What is Text-to-Image?
When you type a prompt like “a cat sitting on a rainbow” into an AI image generator, the AI starts with pure visual noise — think TV static — and gradually removes that noise, step by step, steering the result toward your description. This process is called Stable Diffusion, and it works a bit like a sculptor chipping away at a block of marble: the final image was always “hidden” in the noise, and the AI has learned how to reveal it. It picked this up by studying millions of images paired with descriptions, so it knows what concepts like “cat,” “rainbow,” or “sunset” look like and how to combine them. Prompto uses exactly this approach to create images from your text.
Why Prompto ?
Prompto is built to be a hands-on creative tool. Speed matters when you’re exploring ideas, so we made image creation as fast as possible — letting you iterate freely on different designs and directions. And because everything runs on your device, there are no credits to buy and no token limits. Create as many images as you want, whenever you want.
We also wanted to make text-to-image accessible to everyone. You don’t need any prior experience — the app comes with 80 style presets and easy-to-use, yet powerful controls. A clear separation of content and style prompts helps you understand what’s shaping your image, so you can experiment with confidence and develop your own visual ideas. The goal is simple: let’s create, not generate.

On-Device Processing
Prompto creates your images directly on your device. You only need an internet connection once — to download the model during initial setup. After that, everything stays on your phone, tablet, or Mac. No image data and no personal data ever leaves your device. And because there are no servers to run, we can offer unlimited image creation for free and very fast image generation.
The trade-off is that on-device processing has less power to work with than cloud-based generators like ChatGPT, Google’s image tools, or server-hosted Stable Diffusion, which run on high-end hardware designed for this task. In practice, that means Prompto produces square images at moderate scene complexity. You may also notice occasional imperfections — a wrong number of fingers or an extra limb. That’s the nature of running AI locally today.
That said, we believe the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. Full privacy, zero cost, and no internet dependency make Prompto a great tool for fast, safe, and fun artistic exploration. And we promise that we are working hard on updates to deliver best results for you in the future.
Endless Styles, Easy Controls
Text-to-image excels at producing a broad spectrum of looks — from well-known photo styles like macro photography and golden hour, to surrealistic and abstract art. The possibilities are genuinely endless, which is powerful but can also be overwhelming. To help you find your way, Prompto offers 80 style presets covering watercolor, ink drawings, analog film looks, modern photography, and much more. The app clearly separates your content prompt (what’s in the scene) from the style prompt (how it looks), so you always know which part of the input is shaping which part of the result. Every preset is fully transparent — you can see exactly which style keywords produce which look, helping you learn and refine your own prompting approach.

Please note: After installing the app, you’ll need to download the model to your device. The download runs in the background and may take a few minutes. You can sent the app to background and come back later. Once the download is complete, Prompto will initialize and you can start creating right away.
